Hina Khan - We Don’t Fold our Hands Together

In response to defiance and solidarity against oppression.

We don’t fold our hands together conjures a monolith of solidarity. Hina Khan is inspired by the Pakistani poet Rukhsana Ahmad’s poem - We Sinful Women – a declaration of the liberation of women from oppressive social norms. We resist the violent weight of history and stand in a world of humans opening and unfolding their hands in gestures of defiance, of kindness and of love. Hands join like tree roots, in a spirit that has existed for epochs.
